Rio Ferdinand has responded to Jurgen Klopp following the Liverpool manager’s joke at the expense of Gary and Phil Neville during his recent press conference.
Klopp made the comment after Liverpool’s 2-0 Europa League win against Union Saint-Gilloise, where he discussed the Mac Allister brothers playing against each other at Anfield. Klopp said, “It’s the first time that two brothers played against each other in world football, or [that’s] what it felt like. It’s a really nice story.”
When another reporter pointed out that the Mac Allister brothers aren’t the first siblings to compete against each other in football, citing the Neville brothers as an example, Rio Ferdinand has issued a response to Klopp’s remark.
“Nobody was interested in that, obviously!” Klopp joked, much to the amusement of the assembled journalists. Watch the clip below:

What did Rio Ferdinand say?
If anything, the Neville brothers deserve a lot more respect than they currently get. The Nevilles are part of one of the most successful sporting families in British history and Ferdinand, who played with both Gary and Phil, with Man United and England, couldn’t resist sticking up for his former teammates.
Only 14 Premier League titles between the Neville households 👀😂 https://t.co/Ku76A9ozer
