On Sunday afternoon, Robin van Persie demonstrated that he still possesses his footballing prowess, as he dominated the pitch during legends match between Rangers and World XI, hosted at Ibrox stadium.
Numerous renowned players participated in the game, including Jermain Defoe, Ronald de Boer, and Pedro Mendes, all of whom represented the Rangers.
The World XI team included Robin van Persie, Jaap Stam, Michael Essien, Jack Wilshere, and Nwankwo Kanu.
The 39-year-old Van Persie turned back the clock and displayed a stunning performance that led his team to a 4-3 triumph.
The Dutch striker scored two goals, provided an assist, and came close to scoring an incredible overhead kick. He opened the scoring for his team with a remarkable header in the 22nd minute.

He turned provider five minutes later as he produced a lovely assist for Wilshere’s goal.

After his brilliant header, Van Persie attempted a stunning overhead kick a few moments later.
Michael Essien lofted the ball over the defense, and Van Persie went for the spectacular strike.
The veteran forward struck the ball cleanly, and although he managed to get his attempt on target, Ronald Waterreus made a fantastic save to deny him a sensational goal.

Van Persie netted the decisive goal with 15 minutes left on the clock.
Jermaine Pennant’s shot hit the post and rebounded straight to the Dutchman, who had the simple job of tapping the ball into the unguarded net.
Although Van Persie seemed to be in an offside position, the linesman did not raise his flag, and the goal was awarded. This turned out to be the winning goal of the match.

Van Persie’s impressive performance in the legends match proves that he still possesses his footballing abilities.
The Dutchman retired from professional football in 2019 after a successful career. In 2020, he started working as an assistant coach at Feyenoord, and he continues to serve in that role.
