After Scott McTominay’s impressive performance during the international break, Manchester United fans are convinced that Erik ten Hag should consider deploying him as a striker.
This comes amidst McTominay’s struggle for regular first-team minutes at Old Trafford due to the arrival of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro last summer. Additionally, Ten Hag has frequently axed the partnership of McTominay and Fred, which was often used by previous managers such as Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Ralf Rangnick at United.
As a result, McTominay’s long-term future at United is now uncertain with Ten Hag opting for a preferred partnership of Casemiro and Eriksen.
Despite facing uncertainty about his future at United, Scott McTominay has excelled during the international break and made a crucial impact in Scotland’s first two Euro 2024 qualifying matches.
In Scotland’s Group A opener at Hampden Park on Saturday, McTominay scored a late second-half brace against 10-men Cyprus. In the following match against Spain at Hampden Park on Tuesday, he produced a stunning brace, which earned him praise from fans on social media.
Manchester United supporters are now convinced that McTominay should be tried as a striker instead of Wout Weghorst.
This comes amid recent links of McTominay with a move to Newcastle.
