Sevilla takes the lead against Man United as Harry Maguire has a nightmare moment

In the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Sevilla, Harry Maguire had an unforgettable moment as he inadvertently helped the opposing team take the lead.

After giving away a comfortable 2-0 lead in the first leg at Old Trafford, Manchester United traveled to Seville for the second leg tie.

Despite a brace from Marcel Sabitzer giving Erik Ten Hag’s men a 2-0 lead in the first half, Sevilla made a comeback in the last 10 minutes of the match.

Unfortunately for United, two own goals, one from Tyrell Malacia and the other from Harry Maguire, resulted in a 2-2 draw.

Sevilla took the lead against Manchester United in the Europa League quarterfinal second leg on Thursday night after a mistake by United captain Harry Maguire.

The game was played at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and with just seven minutes on the clock, Erik Lamela took advantage of Maguire’s mistake and the ball eventually found its way to Moroccan striker Youssef En Nesyri who scored a well-placed shot past David de Gea.

Fans were quick to react to the goal on social media.

One said: “David de Gea + Harry Maguire. Nightmare!”

Another tweeted: “Well, we all know what Maguire is by now, but he loves to keep providing it to us. Nightmare start.”

A third fan added: “Poor Harry Maguire can’t catch a break! Nightmare start for United and their captain.”

Someone else wrote: “Maguire and De Gea are having another nightmare. That’s why we need to look for a new Keeper who can play out from the back.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Worst possible start for United and Maguire, come on lads wake up!”

Throughout the season, Maguire’s performances have been put under the microscope by both pundits and fans.

This mistake against Sevilla will not help his course as he looks to regain the trust of Ten Hag and the United faithful.

United now need to score twice if they want to go through inside 90 minutes.
