Reportedly, members of Manchester United’s first-team squad have advised Jadon Sancho to issue an apology to manager Erik ten Hag.
This suggestion comes after Sancho faced criticism for being excluded from the squad to face Arsenal in the Premier League earlier in the month.
When questioned about his decision, Ten Hag stated that Jadon was omitted due to his performance in training.
“We didn’t select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices on the frontline, so for this game, he wasn’t selected.”
However, Sancho reacted by releasing a statement of his own.
He wrote: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.
“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!
“All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to the team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and I am grateful to do so, which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”
After that, Sancho has reportedly refused to apologise to Ten Hag and has now been ‘completely exiled’ from the squad as his United future remains uncertain.
According to the Daily Mirror, some of Sancho’s teammates have urged the 23-year-old to apologise to the manager.
It is believed that Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are amongst those who have asked Sancho to swallow his pride and say sorry to Ten Hag.
The report claimed that Sancho’s teammates have warned him that there will only be one winner if the battle with Ten Hag continues.
A source told the publication: “Jadon’s team-mates have been telling him to back down and say sorry to the boss. They want him to apologise. They sympathise with him and the way he feels, but recognise a line was crossed with what he posted.”
United meanwhile are back in action on Tuesday night as they take on Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.
