Toni Kroos has vehemently criticized Gabri Veiga’s move to Saudi Pro League team Al Ahli in a scathing statement.
During the summer, Saudi Arabian clubs have been active in signing some of Europe’s top talents.
Cristiano Ronaldo was among the first high-profile players to depart Europe for the Middle East, and this summer has seen the likes of Karim Benzema, Neymar, and N’Golo Kante also making the move.
Notably, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, Jordan Henderson, Ruben Neves, and Sadio Mane have also joined Saudi teams.
The Saudi Pro League is poised to welcome one of its newest rising stars, 21-year-old Vegia, who had an impressive season with Celta Vigo.
During the 2022/23 La Liga season, Vegia made a remarkable 36 appearances and scored 11 goals, drawing attention from clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea.
Serie A champions Napoli were also in the running to secure the Spanish talent’s services.
However, the skillful midfielder has chosen to decline offers from both the Premier League and Italy’s top flight, opting to join Al Ahli instead. The Saudi club’s bid has been accepted by Celta Vigo.
Fabrizio Romanoclaims Veiga has decided to sign for Al Ahli and said the youngster was the club’s ‘secret’ top target.
But the transfer has angered Real Madrid’s Kroos, who slammed the move, describing it as “embarrassing” in a scathing assessment.

He left the damning comment on Romano’s post about Veiga’s transfer on Instagram.
Veiga’s move to Saudi Arabia marks the league’s first signing of a genuine young talent, who has the potential to become one of the best players in his position.
