Vinicius Jr has had his red card from Real Madrid’s game with Valencia rescinded, following the disgusting racist abuse he received from opposition fans.
Vinicius was subjected to vile chants from the Valencia fans on Sunday as the two sides clashed, with the Real forward understandably responding angrily.
When opposition star Hugo Duro manhandled the Brazilian during a clash with the supporters, Vinicius responded by slapping the forward.
The referee then sent the Brazilian off, who walked from the pitch telling the Mestalla crowd that they were going down to La Liga 2.
It is not the first time this season that the 22-year-old has been targeted by disgusting chants and other forms of racist abuse from rival fans.
He called out La Liga, Valencia and Spain for racism and the way it’s handled in the aftermath, which league president Javier Tebas didn’t take well to.
Reports have claimed that the Spanish Football Association sacked six referees in the aftermath of the incident, including the man on VAR for the game, Iglesias Villanueva.
Now the Los Blancos star has had his red card rescinded and he will not be missing for any games through suspension for the slap.
The RFEF have also confirmed Valencia’s punishment, with part of the stadium set to be closed for the next few home games for the club.
Their Mestalla Stadium will see the Mario Kempes stand closed for five games after that’s where the abuse was coming from during the game.
That will see the club playing with a reduced capacity for one game against Espanyol at the end of the current campaign and four games at the start of the next, they have also been fined £40,000 for ‘very serious breaches.’
A statement explaining why the red card had been removed said that there had been “various actions of physical and verbal aggression,” towards the forward “in the face of the passivity of the referees, Spanish FA and La Liga.”
The RFEF also explained that the chanting had turned the ‘victim into the aggressor,’ and Valencia now have 10 days to appeal the decision.
Some reports have claimed that the former Flamengo star is considering his future in Spain after the latest incident of racist abuse towards him,
