After winning the Ballon d’Or for the first time in
2009, Adidas released two exclusive Lionel Messi Football Shoe colorways in
September and December 2009, following his first+f50.9 silver soccer cleat
colorway.
Adidas launched two golden Lionel Messi Ballon d’Or
Football Boots in 2011 and 2012, as the color gold became more prominent. The
2011 special boot featured the Messi logo, the FIFA Ballon d’Or lettering, and
the years he received the individual player title, unlike previous Messi Ballon
d’Or Soccer Cleats.

when the tournament was pushed to the following year. Messi wore the boots in
the second leg of the UEFA Champions League 2019-20 against Napoli and a
potential final tournament.
