Following the shocking miss, Chelsea striker Timo Werner has’received’ a North Macedonian identity card out of gratitude.

Werner was given a North
Macedonian identification card after his terrible miss for Germany last night,
according to sources.

Germany lost 2-1 at home to the
world’s 65th-ranked team, and Werner’s sitter in the 80th minute, which tied
the game at 1-1, proved costly.

After Ilkay Gundogan squared
the ball, the Chelsea striker fluffed his lines and put the ball wide with his
left foot when he was just yards away from the target.

Eljif Elmas scored the winner for
the visitors five minutes after the big chance was squandered, giving North
Macedonia an unforgettable victory in Duisburg.

As if the shame of losing out
on such a great opportunity wasn’t enough, Macedonian media have trolled Werner
by giving him his own ID card.

SID made a mock-up of the
paper, complete with his name, date of birth, headshot, and signature, as a
joke for him assisting the country in achieving one of its greatest ever
achievements.

Werner’s miss was so bad that Visar Musliu, a defender for North Macedonia, couldn’t believe the former RB Leipzig man didn’t score.

He was seen with his hands on his heads, mirroring Werner’s and Gundogan’s reactions.

Speaking on the miss, Germany boss Joachim Low said: “He must put that ball away, no question at all.

“He has shown here he can score goals.

“But he doesn’t hit the ball right with his left foot, if he makes a clean contact with the ball it’s a goal.”
