Lionel Messi is expected to remain at Barcelona this summer, leaving Manchester City with three options for next season’s striker.
City revealed earlier this week that Aguero would leave the club when his deal expires at the end of the season, ten years after arriving in Manchester.
The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester United, City’s arch-rivals, although PSG and Inter Milan are also said to be involved.
Barcelona had been the first club to express interest in the former Atletico Madrid striker prior to the announcement, in an effort to persuade Messi to remain at the Camp Nou.
Last summer, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner expressed his intention to depart and was supposed to join City. Despite the fact that his transfer had been postponed, he was still planning to leave this summer.
That is no longer the case, according to Spanish outlet SPORT, with Messi inspired by the team’s success so far this season.

Despite being eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16, the Catalan giants are just four points behind La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.
This season, Ronald Koeman has promoted many younger players to the first team, and Joan Laporta has returned to the club as president.
According to the paper, City have opted against making a move for the Argentina forward, opting instead to sign a more out-and-out number nine.
According to the publication, Erling Haaland is at the top of their list, with reports in England today claiming that the Borussia Dortmund forward could demand £600,000 per week to transfer to the Premier League.

Since Haaland’s release clause does not kick in until next summer, Dortmund will be able to outbid others for his services.
If the 20-year-old does not join City in the summer, the next two names on the list have plenty of Premier League experience between them.
A move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane is planned, and Inter’s Romelu Lukaku is the third name on their list. Lukaku’s form since moving from United to Italy has been exceptional.
