The Gunners will finalize the acquisition of the England international after he returns from holiday. Arsenal are closing close on the signing of Ben White after having an offer for the centre-back approved by Brighton.
The Gunners have been in negotiations with the Seagulls over the 23-year-old for weeks and have already had two bids rejected.
Arsenal has been given permission to finalise a deal with the England international after a breakthrough in discussions on Friday saw a £50 million ($69 million) proposal approved.
But a breakthrough in negotiations on Friday saw a £50 million ($69m) bid accepted, with Arsenal now being given permission to finalise a deal with the England international.
What’s the latest?
Arsenal has always been optimistic about landing White, who was the club’s top defensive target this summer.
Despite having two previous offers rejected, conversations with Brighton have always been cordial, with the current talks focusing on the transfer mechanism.
Arsenal had previously said that they were prepared to meet Brighton’s £50 million value, but the actual structure of the transaction, as well as the numerous terms and bonuses that would be included, had to be agreed upon.
Full agreement between the clubs was reached on Friday, with Arsenal now able to finalise personal terms with the player ahead of his move to north London.
Will the deal be completed quickly?
Because White is presently on vacation following the completion of Euro 2020, there may be a little delay in the transfer.
All players who participated in the tournament for England have been given three weeks off, but White is likely to cut that short at some point in order to complete his move and pass a medical.
Arsenal are presently in Scotland for a training camp and will return to London following their match against Rangers on Saturday before travelling to America to compete in the Florida Cup early next week.
White will not, however, be involved in the trip to the United States.
