Jose Mourinho Using Drones To Revolutionise Roma’s Pre Season Training

Jose Mourinho’s methods are often questioned as something from a bygone era of football, but the new Roma boss is very much a new age man with his pre season training revolution.

Mourinho’s tactics have been questioned in recent years, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both accused of being too defensive and ponderous to achieve success.

His time to Spurs was brought to a premature end last season and was the first club he’s managed for more than a year without winning anything, in his entire career.

Despite questions about his methods, which came further to the fore with Luke Shaw’s incredible form at the Euros, Roma have appointed him their new boss.

The 58-year-old has got to work with changing things in the Italian capital straight away and is now using a drone to watch the players training and has put up a giant screen at the Trigoria training ground.

The drone will allow Mourinho, and his coaching staff, to spot the shape of his team in training and pick up on more things they may usually miss.

From spotting things on the drone, the Roma boss will then be able to pinpoint mistakes or errors in shape and instantly rectify them, after showing the players the footage on the giant screen.

Exactly how much of their training sessions the players will want to spend watching their errors is questionable but it should be of help to them.

Whilst the use of the technology might be new to Mourinho, it certainly wasn’t reported that he was doing it at Spurs, it isn’t all together new for football.

New Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann had a giant screen installed at Hoffenheim’s training ground when he was their manager.

The German would use the screen in a similar way to Jose but would also use it to show his players clips from the upcoming opponent’s former games and go through analysis with them.

Mourinho hasn’t taken much time to stamp his authority at the Stadio Olimpico, as well as making huge changes to the training methods, the ‘Special One’ has already got rid of eight players from first team training.

Can the two times Champions League winning manager recapture his trophy winning form that abandoned him in north London?
