Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano corroborated these reports and tweeted about the clause that United have installed in the deal: “Andreas Pereira will fly to Rio de Janeiro later today. New and final details of the deal after late change: Flamengo will not pay any loan fee but will share salary with Man United.

“Flamengo will have €20m buy option in 2022. Man Utd would receive 20% of future sale.”

Manchester United had reportedly rejected several loan deals across the summer as they were looking to sell him on a permanent deal however there were no clubs willing to offer enough that satisfied the club.

Pereria, who join United as a teenager in 2011, has rarely been able to get a consistent run in the team and reportedly wants to play football regularly in order to compete for Brazil’s World Cup squad in Qatar next year.

Earlier this summer, Pereira spoke of his desire for more regular playing time: “In Manchester or elsewhere, the time has come to play, to have at least an hour per game on the field, to have the confidence to play.

“I want to be happy, to feel important. I’m ready to play, I’m not a boy anymore. I’m a man ready to take responsibility.”

However, due to signings such as Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek in recent transfer windows, Pereira has seen himself fall further down the pecking order at Old Trafford where he would have very few opportunities to play.

After being linked to several European clubs such as Lazio and Fenerbache, he ultimately chose to return to the country he represents on an international level.
