Lionel Messi’s future in football remains uncertain after Barcelona revealed that the Argentine superstar is to leave the club, but where will he go next?
In a move that shocked the world, Barcelona announced that Messi would not continue at the club after they were unable to fulfil a new contract due to “financial and structural obstacles”.
Quickly emerging as a front-runner to sign the 34-year-old, Paris Saint-Germain swiftly made contact with Messi in a move that would reunite him with former Barca team-mate Neymar.

According to reports, the Ligue 1 giants have tabled a lucrative two-year deal, thought to be worth £25m-a-year after tax – with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner now considering a move to the French capital.
Messi also have two other potential options after leaving Barcelona, but PSG remain the favourites to sign him.
Accoring to reports, Messi has spoken directly with manager and fellow Argentine Mauricio Pochettino about moving to the club.
When asked if a move to PSG was on his mind, Messi said: “That is one possibility, to reach those heights.
“I’ve got nothing confirmed with anybody. I had a lot of calls, a lot of interested clubs. At the moment, nothing is closed, but we are talking about a lot of things.”

However, in another recent dramatic twist, Barcelona lawyers are sensationally trying to block Lionel Messi’s transfer to PSG.
PSG will hope that by signing Messi – and partnering him with Neymar – will drive up their commercial revenues and be factored into financial fair play considerations.
But the Catalan side have alleged that PSG cannot sign Messi due to their dire financial situation.
Taking to social media, French writer and lawyer, Juan Branco, posted a statement that outlines their complaint against the French outfit.
