Only Fully Vaccinated Fans Could Be Allowed To Watch Premier League Games

Premier League fans who have not received a double jab could be denied entry from games from October as the government draws up plans ahead of the new campaign.

All seated events with more than 20,000 fans may require a full coronavirus vaccination, according to plans, although no final decisions have yet to be made.

It is believed discussions with the Premier League are currently in ‘an early phase’, report The Daily Mail.

In addition to the possibility of having to own a vaccine passport for such events, the report goes on to claim that ministers could seek to reduce the increase in COVID cases by extending their plan to the lower leagues.

A government source has said: “It’s important that fans can continue to watch sporting events over the autumn, which is why we’re exploring the role vaccines might play in this.

“This will not only allow full capacity stadiums but has the added bonus of incentivising people of all ages to go and get their jab.”

It was reported earlier this week that Premier League players and staff have been asked to be double vaccinated in order to take part next season.

According to the Daily Mail, players will require both doses of their vaccination by October 1st, giving those who are yet to have both jabs another 10 weeks to do so.

It’s believed the Premier League have backed plans as they want to help bring back fans, and avoid any more restrictions, as much as possible.

England manager Gareth Southgate has already urged young people to get the jab.

“We know the last 18 months have been incredibly difficult for everybody,” he said.

“And there’s no doubt that the vaccination programme is our best route out of this problem, not only for us as a country but across the world.

“So I just wanted to say how important it is, if you haven’t had your vaccine yet, to go and get it done.”

‘If you haven’t had your vaccine yet, go and get it done — for you younger ones especially.’

Thanks to @England‘s Gareth Southgate for sharing an important message about the #NHSCOVIDVaccine. ⚽️
